Studio Policies & Rules
Please take a moment to review these policies and agreements to ensure they align with your values and that you're comfortable committing to them. We all play a part in maintaining a positive, respectful environment.

GENERAL STUDIO HOURS
Monday to Friday: 10 AM – 4 PM
Saturday & Sunday: Members onlyMEMBER ACCESS
8am-9pm 7 days a week.At times, a class may be in session in either the handbuilding or wheel area—you're welcome to use any available space but please be mindful of ongoing sessions.
The studio may occasionally close for maintenance or events; check the notice board for updates.
MAKE UP CLASSES
If you miss a class, you may request to attend another session within the same term, subject to availability. Please email Angela at hello.claeworks@gmail.comCANCELLATION POLICY
Private Lessons & Events: For private lessons and events, full refunds are available up to 48 hours before the session. If you cancel within 48 hours, we cannot offer a refund, but you may reschedule at no extra cost.
Term Classes & Weekly Wheel Sessions:
- Full refunds for cancellations made at least 2 weeks before the first class.
- 50% refunds for cancellations made between 2 weeks and 48 hours before the first class.
- No refunds for cancellations made within 48 hours or for no-shows.
Memberships: a minimum of one month's notice is required for membership cancellations. There are no exceptions.
Master Workshops & Studio Events: Due to the high costs involved in running master workshops and studio events, tickets are non-refundable.
If we are able to find another student to take your place, we will waive the cancellation fee.
If you are unable to attend on the day, you may transfer your ticket to someone else, but you must notify us in advance via email.

PICK-UP POLICY
As a small studio, we kindly ask that all glaze and bisque-fired work be collected from communal shelves within 3 weeks of completion.Pieces left beyond this time may be discarded to make space for new work.
If you’re unable to pick up within this time frame, please get in touch, and we’ll do our best to arrange an alternative solution.

FIRING
Only approved glazes and clay may be used. All work must be labeled with your name before firing.Firing is charged per kilo, at the moment we can only fire member work, the price is $5 a kilo. For workshops and classes firing is included in the cost.
Pieces left unclaimed for more than 2 months may be discarded.
GLAZES
Please handle glaze buckets with care. If you recklessly spill a glaze, you may be responsible for the cost of replacing it.Always stir glazes before use. Members and students are not permitted to adjust glazes by adding or removing water, if you're unsure please seek assistance from Angela or Helena.
Avoid contamination by not dipping pieces into multiple glaze buckets.
DUST, SANDING & FETTLING
No fettling, dry sanding or scraping in the studio under any circumstances—wet sanding only.Do not sweep; use a wet sponge for cleaning instead.
PERSONAL ITEMS & JEWELLERY
Please avoid leaving valuables like rings in apron pockets or at the studio. We are not liable for lost or stolen items, so please keep track of your belongings. Your vigilance can prevent loss.PERSONAL PROPERTY
Do not use others’ tools without direct permission. Avoid touching items on shelves that aren’t yours.PRIVATE STUDIOS
Clae Works has 3 private studio spaces in the back of the building, these studios are strictly off-limits to members and students. If you are interested in hiring a permanent studio space please text Angela on 0435282700.NO SMOKING STUDIOS
Clae Works is a smoke-free space, including the immediate outdoor areas. -
CLEANING
Clean your work area, wheel, wheel basin, stool, communal tools and equipment, and floor space before leaving.Replace items such as glaze buckets, glazes, oxides, banding wheels in the appropriate areas, do not leave them around the studio.
Clean and wipe down the wedging table after use. Do not Leave any clay on the wedging table.
We take pride in caring for our space. We ask that you contribute to the upkeep of the studio. In doing so, we show the respect and value we have for both the space and the community it holds.
GUESTS
Members are permitted to bring guests for a fee of $55 per day (maximum two guest passes per month). Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests and guests may not be in the space without the member. If a guest wishes to firework, they must do so at the outside firing rate ($10 per kilo)The studio reserves the right to suspend the guest pass policy during especially busy times of the year.
KIDS
Members are welcome to bring children for up to 2 hours per week, provided they are supervised at all times. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child’s safety and behavior, keeping in mind that this is a professional, shared studio space. Children can work with small amounts of clay, but if they wish to have anything fired, it must be handled in the same way as the parent’s work. Parents are responsible for making sure it is safe to fire.CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS
Please be considerate of those around you by using only the space you need to work, by keeping conversations at a considerate volume, not talking to people wearing headphones, and generally by respecting the studios peaceful atmosphere.If you have a question about a technique or equipment, please approach the staff rather than interrupting another member or student.
COMMISSIONED WORK
Members working on commissions must plan for at least 6 weeks turnaround time. Priority firing requests cannot be accommodated at this time. However, kiln bookings are available.PETS
Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.
