Join ceramic artist Clare Unger for a 7.5-hour master workshop exploring her signature approach to integrating surface and form through richly decorated clay slabs. Drawing inspiration from textiles, hand-stitching and mark-making, Clare guides participants through the process of building a functional vessel from an intricately textured slab.
You’ll explore:
• Using textiles to emboss and imprint clay
• Designing and painting mono-print transfer images
• Creating your own embossing tile
• Surface design: washes, dry brushing, layering
• Rolling, cutting and assembling a decorated slab
• Hand-building a functional vessel
• Moisture control, joining techniques and refinement
What’s Included
• Clay and decorative materials
• Porcelain slip for mono-printing
• A selection of textiles (you’re welcome to bring your own)
• Firing + clear glaze of one main piece
• Tea, coffee and good vibes
