Wheel Throwing – Wednesday Evening – 8 Weeks – Starts Oct 14

This 8-week wheel throwing course is perfect for complete beginners as well as returning students. With a maximum of 4 students per class, you'll receive plenty of individual guidance while learning the fundamentals of wheel throwing in a supportive studio environment.

Each weekly session includes guided instruction, demonstrations and supported practice, with unlimited reclaimed clay giving you the freedom to throw, recycle and try again as many times as you need. You'll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including preparing clay, centring, pulling walls, shaping forms, trimming and creating functional pieces such as bowls, mugs, plates and vases.

The extended course format allows you to experience the full pottery process, from making through to glazing and firing your own work. You'll also have 2.5 hours of Open Studio access each week, giving you extra time between classes to work independently, develop muscle memory and refine your technique with ongoing support when you need it.

Course includes:

• 8 weekly classes (2.5 hours each)
• An additional 2.5 hours of Open Studio access each week during Open Studio hours (10am–4pm weekdays). Alternative times may be arranged in advance, subject to studio availability.
• Personal shelf space
• Small class size (max. 4 students)
• Demonstrations, guided instruction and individual support
• Unlimited reclaimed studio clay for practice during classes
• Clay and tools provided
• Glazing and firing of your 4 favourite pieces, you may choose to keep additional pieces for $10 per piece.

Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting messy.

Open Studio clay and firing:

Students wishing to create additional work during their Open Studio sessions can purchase clay from the studio, with additional work fired at the member rate of $5/kg for bisque and $8/kg for glaze firing.
